“IF YOU HAVE WATER, CONSIDER YOURSELF FORTUNATE”
Perhaps we would be aware of the reason to celebrate 22 March as the WORLD WATER DAY. This is celebrated in order to attract the attention of everyone towards the importance of conserving water. Water is a precious resource available in abundance. But still we would have been advised by our parents or teachers not to waste water. United nations recommend that the amount of water which incurs for washing cooking and maintaining proper hygiene is approximately 50litres per person a day. Which is about two and half buckets of water per person per day. If one person gets this he is considered as fortunate because there are some places, where there is an acute shortage of water. Even they starve to die especially during summer days because of this. Our world comprises about 71% of water contained in seas, oceans, rivers, lakes, ice caps, ground water and in atmosphere. Most of this is not compatible for human survival. So one should learn how to conserve it, this could be done by rain water harvesting, reducing the usage of water lavishly, so that we could bring it under control.

The reproduction is happened by the fusion of sperm and an ovum. When sperms and egg comes in contact one of the sperms may get itself injected with an egg. This process is called as Fertilization. During this nuclei of the sperm and the nuclei of the egg fuse to form a single nucleus. This results in the formation of Zygote. If this happens normally inside a female body it is called as INTERNAL FERTILIZATION. But for some women the oviducts will be blocked. These women may not be able to give birth to a child, as the fusion between sperm and egg might not happen. So doctors collect egg and sperm which is freshly released and keep them together for few hours in IVF OR IN VITRO FERTILIZATION. Then the zygote which is developed is placed in placed in the uterus. There the baby develops like a normal baby and after a passage of time the baby is born like normal baby. Babies born through this kind of process are called as test tube babies. And there is a common myth that these babies grow in test tubes. It is not at all a true statement.

Cloning is nothing but producing of a same living thing or another copy of the original. This is done by extracting a cell from one living thing and placing it on another living thing of the same kind. Ian Wilmut successfully performed this cloning of an animal. He did this with his co-workers at the rosin institute in Edinburgh .Scotland. They first tried this with a sheep and cloned other sheep named Dolly. It was born 1996 on 5th July and was the first animal to be cloned. This is done by transferring one cell from the mammary gland of a female Finn Dorsett sheep and fused with an egg obtained from a Scottish blackface ewe. The nucleus was removed from the egg. Now the nucleus of the Finn Dorsett sheep was injected into the egg of the Scottish blackface ewe whose nucleus had been removed. Thus produced was incorporated into the Scottish blackface ewe, then the egg developed normally and finally dolly was born. It was found identical to the Finn Dorsett sheep although it was given birth by Scottish blackface ewe. Dolly died on February 14th 2003 due to certain lung disease.

More than century’s Indian women were subordinated to men. Most women claimed that women’s place was inside the house and her role was that of daughter, wife and mother. She was revered as long as she did not leave the threshold of her house. Woman was treated as sex and child yielding machine just to fulfill the needs of men. Also Woman power was worshipped as ‘Shakhty’ and men were instrumental in conducting darshan for durga, kali and annapoorna. But she was not treated as an ‘individual’ having ambitions, desires and a personality. She had to constantly adjust to father, brother, husband .In fact, the peasant and poor women were better off than the rich, upper-caste women, as they had the freedom to work in the fields or at a construction job. They often left a husband and found another. .social taboos did not concern them much though they were also bound by the laws of their caste, tribe or community. They were often beaten up by their drunken husbands. And because they were poor they faced a very difficult life. But nowadays women are more educated than man; they even started dominating men these days.
